Hello! My name is Dr. Sarah Clark and I’m a Licensed and Board Certified Holistic Health Practitioner with a PhD in Natural Medicine. I specialize in helping individuals and their families understand and overcome allergies and food sensitivities so they can control their symptoms, feel better and live happy, healthy lives.
For more than 15 years I have been working in the field of Health and Wellness to not only improve the lives of my clients, but to overcome health concerns for myself and my family.
I’ve been dealing with the effects of environmental and food allergies on my health since I was old enough to walk. Growing up I was allergic to every food unimaginable amount of foods including: milk, eggs, chocolate, tomatoes, peanuts, bread, watermelon and strawberries… And those are just the foods that come to mind. Trust me when I tell you in the 1970’s and early 1980’s the alternatives to any of the aforementioned foods left much to be desired. When it came to environmental allergies it wasn’t much better; Grasses, trees, weeds, dusts, molds, dogs, cats, horses… If there was a test for it, I would react to it. My poor mother spent years of her life trying to keep us healthy and figure out what, if anything, we could eat.
Fast forward to my becoming a mother, and the need to understand allergies took on new importance. We now have three children with varying degrees of allergies and food sensitivities, and it can be hard! Their allergies and food sensitivities have a profound effect not only on their lives, but on the lives of everyone in our family. Our eldest son for instance has had food related digestive issues since infancy. The challenges we faced with his health, started me on a holistic journey that culminated in attaining my PhD and ultimately joining a pediatric practice here in Dallas.
All of this to say, I’ve been there. I’m passionate about this topic because my first client was me! I still can’t eat gluten or enjoy milk products and my son has more food sensitivities and intolerances than I ever imagined possible in one child, but through a LOT Of research, trial and error and education we’ve found a way to make it work. I know the pain parents go through when their kiddos can’t eat foods like other kids. I sometimes only agree to restaurants after checking the menu to confirm there’s something my kiddos can eat that won’t make them (or me) sick. But, I’ve found that with the right information, a little bit of preparation and the right support, allergies and food sensitivities are manageable.
